What a busy day! We all enjoyed kick-off breakfast this morning along with our skit with Pastor Justin. Our elementary kids kicked off their Sunday School classes during worship with a lesson on baby Moses. Tonight at youth group, our junior high group took a surprise trip. We watched a quick movie at the church titled The River. In this skit, a man is "lost" and has lots of baggage and is walking along a road alone. Eventually he finds a river...where he tosses in his bag and watches as the river washes it away. The he plunges in and is "cleansed" and much happier. After the movie, we piled into the Raver van and my car and headed to the Mississinewa River. We shared some readings from Psalms and Ezekiel and talked about how God is like a River and washes our sins and burdens away when we "plunge in." Then we each wrote some of our sins and burdens on a leaf or piece of bark and altogether we threw them into the river and watched as the river carried them away. After exploring the river bank for awhile (yuck, such a shame its a mess down there!), we played kickball, Red Rover, keep away, and freeze tag. We sat out in the middle of the grass in the fresh air and shared our prayer concerns and praises. It was a fun time for all. Tuesday we head to McDonalds for Bible study. No youth group next week because of the campout!
